15 Hours Free Childcare for 3 and 4-Year-Olds
All 3 to 4-year-olds in England receive 570 free hours per year. This is typically taken as:
- 15 hours per week for 38 weeks
- Flexible scheduling options available (e.g., fewer hours over more weeks)
Eligibility Start Date
Children become eligible the term after their 3rd birthday.
Example:
- Birthday on 31st March → Funding starts April term
- Birthday on 1st April → Funding starts September term
30 Hours Free Childcare for 3 and 4-Year-Olds
Some 3 to 4-year-olds qualify for 30 hours free childcare weekly. Check eligibility and apply.
Working Parents Entitlement
Starting September 2025: The 15 hours for working parents of children under 3 expands to 30 hours. Eligible working parents can claim 30 hours of childcare from the term after their child turns 9 months until school age.
We currently accept children from age 2 to school age.
Eligibility Requirements
- Both parents must be:
- Working, or
- On sick leave/annual leave, or
- On parental leave (shared parental, maternity, paternity, or adoption)
- Each parent earns at least the equivalent of 16 hours weekly at national minimum/living wage
- No parent earns over £100,000 annually (official rules)

All eligible families receive the complete 30 hours funding with no extra charges.
